How it works
How a matter moves through Finch
Each step hands its output to the next. A lawyer can correct the work at every stage before it carries forward.
From the first call to the final invoice
Step 1 of 8
A client link, a review queue, one click
A lawyer shares an intake link. The client fills a short form with no account or login, attaches documents and states the issue. It lands in a review queue and one click turns it into a live matter.
Step 2 of 8
The matter, set up properly
Parties and roles, opposing counsel, matter type, phase, fee arrangement and the first deadline. Matters are templated against the firm’s main practice areas.
Step 3 of 8
Read in bulk, with the source kept
Filings, exhibits and correspondence are uploaded in bulk and read, including scans and photocopies. Every extracted fact keeps the coordinates of where it came from.
Step 4 of 8
Five checkable steps
Classify the matter, extract the evidence, assemble the chronology, find contradictions and gaps, write the brief. Evidence items and chronology entries stay editable.
Step 5 of 8
Every claim pinned to a paragraph
Ask in plain English, or give the facts of the matter, and receive an answer where each claim is pinned to the paragraph it rests on.
Step 6 of 8
In your firm’s own structure
Drafts are built from the brief and from research a lawyer has already checked, in the firm’s own structure.
Step 7 of 8
A portal with no passwords
A passwordless client portal shows matters, documents and billing, with a plain-language summary.
Step 8 of 8
Time to invoice on the same record
Time and expenses logged against the matter become an invoice with CGST and SGST handled, exported as a PDF. Payments and retainers are tracked against the same record.
Onboarding
An engineer in your office for three months.
Finch learns how your firm works and adapts to it, practice by practice. After that, features continue to be built from your requests under the annual contract.
Month 1
Learn how the firm works
An engineer from Finch works out of your office and maps the process as it really runs.
Month 2
Personalise
Drafting styles, brief formats, precedent structures, matter types and role permissions, practice by practice.
Month 3
Roll out
Training on live matters, role by role.
Your first conversation
It starts with a 45-minute live demonstration on one matter, end to end: intake, an 800-page set, Spatial Highlighting, the brief, an advocacy note and a draft with tracked changes. A working session with your practice heads follows, then an annual engagement.
